Today I’m announcing a brand new addition to my Substack publication: the Smartphone Filmmaking subscriber chat.
This is a conversation space in the Substack app that I set up exclusively for my subscribers — kind of like a group chat or live hangout. I’ll post short prompts, thoughts, and updates that come my way, and you can jump into the discussion.
I love doing this on Twitter with incredible people whom I follow and follow me. It’s a way to get to know each other and celebrate little big things in life. Especially storytelling, content creators, creativity, introspect and a little silliness.
I’ve turned on the feature to share photos as well.
I like to surround myself with people who inspire each other. Let’s grow our connections here too.
To join our chat, you’ll need to download the Substack app (messages are sent via the app, not email). Turn on push notifications so you don’t miss a chance to join conversation as it happens. Even though currently the IOS is the only one with this feature, the team at Substack is working to bring the feature to its Android app soon.
If you ever receive too many notifications you just go to the top of the chat and click on the …to stop notifications.
Update: November 6: On the web browser, you can now find the “Chat” tab on top with a QR code.
How to get started
Download the app by clicking this link or the button below. Chat is only on iOS for now, but chat is coming to the Android app soon.
Open the app and tap the Chat icon. It looks like two bubbles in the bottom bar, and you’ll see a row for my chat inside.
That’s it! Jump into my thread to say hi, and if you have any issues, check out Substack’s FAQ.
I’ve already started my first chat thread so come on over and say hello!
I have a free subscription and there are paid subscriptions if you want to give up. Don’t not subscribe and miss out, just subscribe free.
I hope to engage with you here. I also write, share videos, and have a more personal podcast, The Word on Storytelling, available on Apple and Spotify, a few others too.
I'm in, Sissy. Greetings from Havana!
