Coming to San Diego from the east coast, smartphone filmmaker Justin Ho will share insights and some of the simple tools he used with his iPhone to make his feature film “Broken Pieces” with great cinematography, post-production colorization effects, and more.
Most importantly, Justin is a storyteller with a keen eye for cinematography and is a skilled editor. Justin Ho is coming to San Diego as a contestant in our annual International Mobile Film Festival where all films are shot with only mobile phone cameras.
The concept behind this festival is that if you replace the camera with your phone, you can make films for the cinema and remove a barrier that is sometimes intimidating to the artist. As a consequence of that fact, everyone in the world who wants to do the rest of the work to make a film—can.
“Broken Pieces” (1 hour 23 minutes) is part of the feature film competition this year and will screen with a Q&A on Saturday, April 26 at 12:45PM. The entire film was shot with an iPhone 14 Pro in New York City.
“Broken Pieces” Synopsis: One day in NYC the lives of five people cross paths with each other in unexpected ways, revealing the subtle yet important interconnectedness of their lives as they grapple with their own issues and try to make sense of the chaos that surrounds them. Love is a complicated and messy thing, and sometimes it takes being broken to find the pieces that fit.
